Simon’s working life has been spent in the worlds of publishing and wine. As managing director and publisher of Mitchell Beazley, he combined both fields, working with the world’s greatest wine writers.
He also has experience of establishing and managing businesses in the US, Australia, Europe, and Asia, and is currently the chairman of Riviera Travel and Oak Furniture Land, as well as the chairman of the family board of Berry Bros & Rudd.
Under the umbrella of his own business, Thames Chairman and Consultancy Services Ltd, Simon provides help and advice to a variety of businesses and organisations.
Simon brings a vast and varied amount of commercial expertise to The White Horse Federation’s board of trustees, as well as specialism in:

- Organisational Management
- Financial Control
- Change Management
- Values-based Culture Development
Outside of work, Simon is a liveryman of the Vintners’ Company and a member of their charitable body, Vintners’ Foundation. In his role at the charity, Simon has helped to:
- Enhance the level of giving to the foundation.
- Develop strong relationships with relevant local charities.
- Improve communication within the Vintners’ Foundation and their communication to the wider community of charities.
Simon maintains his connection with the world of wine through his place on the teaching panel of the Wine and Spirit Educational Trust’s business and commercial knowledge course.
