FAQs about Home Learning

How do the new Home Learning Resources work?

Resources have been provided on the website to allow families to carry on learning at home. Our teachers have been working very hard to produce resources to help you enjoy learning at home and give structure to your child’s day. However, please remember that there is no judgement on families who are unable to carry out the work from home as outlined. The most important thing for you and your family to stay safe and happy.

I am having trouble loading pages and resources on my device. What can I do?

The home learning pages will run more quickly on more recently updated internet browsing software. We recommend using the Google Chrome internet browser which can be installed here: https://support.google.com/chr...

If you are using a phone, Google Chrome can be installed through the app store application.

If you are not able to use Google Chrome, clearing the website data and history on your internet browser can help websites run better. To clear website data on Safari, the most commonly used internet browser on iPhone, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Safari.
  2. Tap Clear History and Website data.
  3. Tap Clear History and Data to confirm.

I can’t find my child’s log in details for their virtual learning environment (VLE)? What can I do?

Different schools are using different VLEs. Consequently some of these instructions will not apply to you and your child.

If your child has lost their login for purple mash, please email [email protected] with details of your child’s full name, school, year group and class.

For support with class dojo some information can be found here. If you are still unable to find what you need, please contact your child’s teacher.

For support with Seesaw, please use these links help site 1 and help site 2.

What is expected of me and my child?

The home learning pages have been set up to provide home learning guidance for those children and parents who are interested or who want something extra to do during the day. While we cannot obligate children to hand in completed work, our teachers will be available to give feedback for those who are particularly enjoying learning from home and, of course, we encourage all our children to always do their best in whatever they do.

Where can I find the new home learning resources?

The home learning resources can be found by clicking “Home Learning Resources” under the category “Learning and Education”. Alternatively, the pages can be found by clicking the button at the top right hand corner of the school website home page.

I am having trouble navigating the pages on my mobile phone. Do you have any advice?

These home learning pages are best displayed on a tablet or on a computer screen. However, if this is not an option for you and you are using a mobile phone, the pages are more user-friendly when viewed in landscape.

How often should my child be submitting work?

The home learning resources and timetables are just a guide which will help structure your child’s day and home learning. No one is obligated to submit work, but anything submitted that shows that you and your family are enjoying learning from home is appreciated by our teachers and reassures us that you are. If you and your child have particularly enjoyed doing an activity or have something they would like to share, all of our teachers are more than happy to give them feedback.

My child is finding it difficult to keep to the timetable?

We understand that this is a difficult time for everyone, and that different families will be in different circumstances at home. The timetables we have made available on our home learning pages are entirely optional and flexible. They have been provided as a resource to help those who are able continue learning from home or who wish to use them to provide structure to their children’s day. Your child can complete as many or as few activities as they like, but please remember that no child is expected to work for more than four hours a day.

Am I expected to print off every worksheet?

The worksheets have been designed to be able to be used without needing to print off each sheet and teachers often suggest this during their video introductions. Do not worry if you are unable to print off any worksheets. However, if you are able to print off worksheets, please feel free to do so.
