British Basketball Stars Train at John Madejski Academy

Last week, John Madejski Academy had the prestigious honour of hosting the GB women’s basketball team.

On Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th January, students and coaches at the school welcomed the team, as well as journalists from Sky and the BBC.

Students from JMA’s exceptional elite basketball programme were very excited to meet the players, and they were not disappointed. The GB team were very friendly and generously devoted a lot of time to meeting students. The girls’ team even got to try on the GB team kit, a real honor and a great photo opportunity!

This week, the GB team will play their final three Olympic qualifying games. After the games were rescheduled and moved from China to Serbia, the team needed to find a new training location in the days before they set off for the tournament.

With JMA’s excellent facilities and basketball programme in mind, representatives from the GB team got in contact and asked if they could carry out training sessions at the school, and the school were happy to oblige.

The elite basketball programme at JMA provides coaching and training at the highest level. While giving promising basketball students the chance to improve their sporting abilities, the programme also ensures the students continue to progress academically.

At The White Horse Federation, we are extremely proud to support such a fantastic and exceptional facility, and we all wish the GB team the best of luck in their qualifying matches!
