New St Luke’s Academy Principal Announces Intent to Get the Basics Right

Last week, Judith Buckingham was officially named St Luke’s Academy School Principal. Having already been in place as interim principal, Mrs Buckingham has begun her tenure immediately.

Over the past five years, the new principal has been working as an education specialist and vice principal at schools in The White Horse Federation, and has most recently held the position of interim principal at St Luke’s Academy following the departure of the previous Principal, Caroline Down.

Upon being appointed, Judith said she was “very keen to continue raising standards at St Luke’s to ensure the quality of education and personal development for all our students is outstanding.”

The new principal wrote: “St Luke’s is a school which is certainly travelling in the right direction regarding both personal and academic development. I would like to see continued progress so that St Luke’s can become an outstanding school where our students develop into confident adults, use their talents, and take on our values of kindness, respect, and perseverance.”

“In terms of culture, I believe it’s important to get the basics right. I want our students to understand the importance of getting enough sleep, eating healthily, exercising regularly, being punctual, and dressing smartly.”

Mrs Buckingham has been in education for over 35 years with over 20 years experience in leadership roles.

She said: “At St Luke’s, we have a caring and compassionate staff team dedicated to enabling every student to be prepared for a successful adult life”.

Judith Buckingham will initially be supported in her new role by vice principal Mr Pollok and assistant principals — Mrs O’Brien and Mr Green.

The future at St Luke’s Academy looks bright under the leadership of Mrs Buckingham. Everyone at The White Horse Federation is looking forward to continuing working with her at this excellent school.
