TWHF Primary Schools Take Part in the Beat the Street Competition

Over the next six weeks, The White Horse Federation’s Swindon primary schools are getting involved in the Beat the Street initiative. Running from 12th September until 24th October, the campaign includes a competition to see how far participants can walk, run, or cycle over a six-week period.

At The White Horse Federation, we strongly believe in encouraging young people to stay active and healthy. We’re proud to say that every TWHF primary school in Swindon — Drove, The Croft, Rodbourne Cheney, Mountford Manor, Nyland, Gorse Hill, Tregoze, Moredon, and Haydon Wick — is taking part in this exciting opportunity to spend more time outside being active.

To facilitate the competition, “Beat Box” sensors have been placed on lamp posts across Swindon. Pupils and teachers are tasked with visiting a variety of places across town, where they can tap their registered Beat the Street fob on the Beat Boxes to build up their score.

Each school competes as a team, with pupils’ and teachers’ scores being added together. The top three schools with the highest total points will be awarded sports and fitness, craft, or book vouchers. The school in first place receives £300 worth of vouchers, with the schools in second and third being gifted £200 and £100 worth of vouchers respectively.

The White Horse Federation believes Beat the Street is an excellent initiative that encourages children and adults to be more active and explore the town. It is also a great activity for families to take part in together. We wish all of our schools the very best of luck and hope they can make their way to the top of the leaderboards.
