Putting in the Miles for Beat the Street Swindon

Posted on: November 8th, 2018

After six weeks of fun, exercise, and exploring the town, our Swindon primary schools really earned their half-term break. On Wednesday 24th October, the Beat the Street Swindon competition came to a close, and we are so proud of what our schools achieved.

The White Horse Federation had nine primary schools taking part — Drove, The Croft, Rodbourne Cheney, Mountford Manor, Nyland, Gorse Hill, Tregoze, Moredon, and Haydon Wick — and their efforts over the six-week competition were nothing short of exceptional.

The health and wellbeing of students is of the utmost importance to The White Horse Federation and its schools, and Beat the Street Swindon acted as a great motivation for students to spend time exercising.

As well as promoting a more active lifestyle, the Beat the Street Swindon competition encouraged local people to explore the town — and that is exactly what Ayam Pant, a student at Drove Primary School, and his family did. Having recently moved to the area, they used the competition to familiarise themselves with their new hometown. You can read more about Ayam’s story on the Drove Primary School blog.

Once again, we would like to congratulate all of the schools, pupils, and staff who took part. We hope that the competition has inspired our students to become more active in their everyday lives.
