On 26/04/2018, it was announced with regret that Ian Frost will be stepping down as Principal of Gloucester Academy with immediate effect.
Since his start as Principal in 2015, Ian’s invaluable leadership has brought about a real step change in bringing together the Gloucester Academy community, both inside and outside of school. With skill and passion Ian helped to restore faith in the Academy across the local community.
Arrangements to find a new Principal are already underway. We are looking for someone who will build on this good work and who can continue the development and improvement of Gloucester Academy.
In the meantime, it is business as usual. A plan for leading the school during this interim period has already been developed. We are delighted to announce that Andy Vinton, Vice Principal at Gloucester Academy, will step into the role of full-time interim Principal. We are excited for Andy to bring his passion and experience to the role and know that Gloucester Academy will thrive under his guidance.
In addition, Helen Glass, Director of Secondary Education across The White Horse Federation, will assist with the running of Gloucester Academy for three days a week. Helen’s experience in leading schools spans more than a decade and includes direct experience as Headteacher of Gloucester’s Central Technology College, which later became Gloucester Academy.
“I am absolutely delighted to be returning to work with the Gloucester Academy community,” Helen said. “I look forward to the journey ahead!”
The resolve of the Gloucester Academy Senior Leadership Team remains unchanged and they will continue directing their passion and expertise into providing the best education and care for students. The White Horse Federation is equally committed to continue in sponsoring the school and ensuring that it soon becomes the outstanding school of choice for young people in Gloucester.
