Children’s Mental Health Week 2026: ‘This Is My Place’
This week, schools across The White Horse Federation are joining hundreds of settings up and down the country to celebrate Children’s Mental Health Week 2026. This national event, led by the children’s mental health charity Place2Be, runs from 9–15 February 2026 and focuses on supporting young people’s wellbeing through belonging and connection.
The official theme for this year is ‘This Is My Place’ — a powerful reminder of the importance of creating environments where children feel valued, included, and truly able to say “I belong here.” The theme emphasises how a strong sense of belonging in families, friendships and school communities can significantly support children’s mental health and wellbeing.
Across our trust, schools have been embracing this message in their own creative ways, helping pupils explore what belonging means to them. One example is when Larkhill pupils took part in a powerful activity during Forest School. The children were invited to write down their worries and then safely placed them onto an outdoor fire. This really helped them think about the worries that we can and cannot control and to let go of what we cannot control.
Why ‘This Is My Place’ Matters
Research and national guidance highlight the importance of belonging in helping children build confidence, resilience and identity. Place2Be notes that feeling accepted within school and community spaces plays a vital role in mental wellbeing and helps children thrive.
By taking part in Children’s Mental Health Week, our schools reinforce their commitment to creating nurturing, inclusive environments where every pupil feels safe, supported and empowered.
Continuing the Conversation
Children’s Mental Health Week is just one moment in the year — but the message lasts much longer. We encourage families and staff to continue supporting children’s wellbeing by:
- Checking in regularly
- Listening without judgement
- Celebrating individuality
- Creating safe spaces where every child feels they belong
Together, we can make every school, every classroom, and every playground a place where children feel they can say with confidence: “This is my place.”
